We're fighting to make Colorado roads safer for motorcyclists.
Current CampaignRolling Updates

We are determined to get electronic devices out of the hands of drivers in Colorado. Bikers seem to witness and encounter more of this dangerous behavior than other drivers, and most certainly some of the most injured when distracted driving causes an accident.

We support SB20-065 because we believe this law will help make Colorado roads safer for everyone.

If passed, all drivers would be prohibited from using a wireless communication device unless used in a hands-free manner. Navigation systems would be permitted as long as the address information was entered prior to operating the vehicle or in an emergency situation.

If passed, all drivers would be prohibited from doing any of the following with an electronic mobile device:

  • Holding the device in the driver’s hand
  • Physically supporting the device with the driver’s body
  • Watching a video or communicating by video
  • Text messaging of any kind

If you believe Colorado should put drivers, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrian safety ahead of operating a device while driving, we urge you to support this bill and sign our petition.

Distracted Driving is Killing Bikers! We Have a Chance to Change that Now!

When’s the last time you saw someone texting and driving? Today, right? Every day. And texting while driving KILLS BIKERS. Now there is a bill making its way through the Colorado Senate that could save motorcyclists’ lives. It’s called the “Use of Electronic Mobile Devices While Driving” Bill (SB19-012) and it is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Transportation & Energy Committee on Thursday, Jan 24, 9:45 am.

Hands-Free Driving in Colorado: I’m For It

Hands-Free Driving in Colorado: I’m For It — Yesterday, I was interviewed by 9News for a story about a bill making its way through the Colorado Senate. (Senator Lois Court and I have been trying to get a version of this bill passed since 2017. See this story for a recap of our efforts.) This bill, should it become law, would make it illegal to use a hand-held device while driving in Colorado.

New Colorado Legislation Requires Hands-Free Tech While Driving

New Colorado Legislation Requires Hands-Free Tech While Driving — Senator Lois Court has introduced a bill called “The Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving Act.” It would essentially make it illegal to use a mobile device in your car with your hands. However, using hands-free technology to operate your mobile device is allowed in this bill. Basically, your eyes need to stay on the road and your hands need to stay on the wheel.
