Enrique Parrilla - BMW R18 Classic

In all my years of riding motorcycles, one consistent piece of advice I have; ride as many different kinds of motorcycles as you can. This will give you a great experience in different riding positions, different size engine displacements, and other valuable lessons.

Everything in between

From Harley-Davidson to BMW to Honda to Royal Enfield – all of these motorcycles brands have their unique take on the motorcycle experience, and each one is unique that require varying levels of riding skills. The more you ride different styles, the more and more you will find what best suits your riding style.

A cruiser for the long haul

After years of riding many styles, I’ve found that the cruiser style best fits my riding needs better. For me riding hundreds of miles through different interstates, I needed something that can chug miles with ease and at constant high capacity without any hiccups. I’ve found that in the most recent cruiser, the BMW R18 Classic. It’s a breath of fresh air with a classic vibe with modern tech bundled on a beefy 1800CC Boxer Head.

A timeless classic is reborn

Inspired by the classic BMW R69, the BMW R18 Classic has all the historic styling with upgraded standard cruise control, heated grips, and of course, traction control with various riding modes. After riding over 4k miles on this BMW R18 Classic, I can say with confidence that this motorcycle is a pleasure to ride, especially on long-distance rides, and has plenty of power to chug all the miles. This cruiser has taken me places from coast to coast, whether climbing the mountains in CA or trekking the desserts in AZ or enjoying the ocean breeze in FL, I have full confidence that this R18 Classic can take me just about anywhere.

Find what works best for you

You won’t know until you try. We all have to start somewhere, even if it’s a small 125CC 2-stroke motorcycle, just try it. Build that confidence and eventually, you’ll find your favorite daily rider.

Have questions?

What is 2-stroke? Are bigger engines better for long-distance? What is dual sport? What is a cruiser? Don’t be afraid to just ask. Ask your 2-wheel friends and ride as many motorcycles as you can. We are all here to help one another. After all, our motorcycle community is best for everyone when we all work together.

Final thoughts

It all comes down to just having fun. That’s what motorcycles can do for you – bring you a big smile while chugging these miles. So, whether you ride 1k miles for the iron butt or if you just cruise around town to get your caffeine fix, as long as you find the motorcycles that best suit your style of riding, you’ll be just fine. Enjoy the ride and always look twice whether you’re a small 2-stroke motorcycle or a big boy BMW R18 Classic. Have fun and remember diversity is the key.
