Hi guys, Scott O’Sullivan here from Rider Justice giving you a quick talk about motorcycle insurance and what not to do during COVID-19. As you can see, today is an absolutely stunning day in April in the middle of the lockdown in Colorado and across America, and riding a motorcycle is one of the best ways you can get out and enjoy. It’s actually pretty quiet on the roads right now and it can really get your mind off what’s going on in day-to-day life.

But here’s what you cannot do. You cannot turn off your motorcycle insurance. I know there are tough choices out there between feeding your family, paying bills, rent, mortgage, things like that, but if the motorcycle is something you’re going to want to get on and ride, or if it’s your only mode of transportation, you cannot turn off your motorcycle insurance.

I’m not going to tell you about the high limits and things like that I want you to normally get in ideal circumstances. That’s not what today is about. Today is about making sure you don’t turn it off and don’t turn off your underinsured motorist coverage.

If you have to make choices within your policy of what to keep and what not to keep, accessories right now would be a good one to limit. It’s okay, that’s an okay choice right now, but do not lower your underinsured motorist coverage. Don’t turn that off.

You don’t want to expose your family to a situation where, through no fault of your own, somebody hits you and they don’t have enough insurance, and you turned off your underinsured motorist coverage, or your motorcycle insurance in general. I got a call just two days ago on that very situation, and it is heartbreaking, when I have to tell a loved one, it’s almost always a wife, that when you turned off that insurance it took away a big way to help compensate the rider and their family to help protect them going into the future.

So don’t turn off your insurance, get out and ride, enjoy, but don’t turn it off. If you have any questions you can call me directly or text me directly at 303-388-5304.
